Clone or backup a flash drive (removable disc) - Wilson - 03-16-2025

I often need to create backups or clones of flash drives (removable disc). This works with USB Image Tool, AOMEI Backupper, Macrium and MiniTool on the fly.

To clone or backup a flash drive (removable disc) with HBS, the WinPE boot media is required.

Hasleo Backup Suite uses Microsoft's Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) technology to implement Windows hot backup/cloning, but Microsoft does not allow VSS snapshots to be created for a removable drive, which is why we ask our customers to go into WinPE to back up/clone removable drives. This can of course be done by implementing a snapshot driver, however we currently have no way to obtain a driver signing certificate, for the specific reasons:

Not having a driver signing certificate prevents us from doing some other functions, such as image files protection.
