Help with installing on an ext HDD - sancha23 - 06-14-2019 Hi all, I tried to fresh install win10 to an external 1tb HDD but it asks to format the the drive. unfortunately i have filled it. and only about 200 GB is free space now. which is more than enough for a windows installation. i can't move or delete those files as i don't have any other storage option. is there any way to install into that free space without wiping / formatting the whole drive? I will follow any step by step instructions. thanks in advance. RE: Help with installing on an ext HDD - admin - 06-14-2019 When you use WinToUSB to create Windows To Go, you can select the "Keep the existing partition scheme" option to use the existing disk partition layout. However, the partition layout must meet certain conditions, for more infomation please refer to the link below: https://www.easyuefi.com/wintousb/resource/manually-prepare-the-partitions-for-windows-to-go.html RE: Help with installing on an ext HDD - sancha23 - 06-14-2019 (06-14-2019, 07:28 PM)admin Wrote: When you use WinToUSB to create Windows To Go, you can select the "Keep the existing partition scheme" option to use the existing disk partition layout. Windows 10 does not have paging file issues, therefore, we recommend that you create Windows To Go using Windows 10 and an external hard disk. Also, if you're still worried about your data, buy another external disk to create Windows To Go.
