Device Encryption
#1
Does Hasleo Backup Suite 4.9.5 support backing up Bitlocker encrypted OS volume?  Do I need the Bitlocker recovery key to restore the drive?  Windows 11 24H2 automatically turns on device encryption and saves the recovery key to the Microsoft account if I have secure boot enabled.

If the BitLocker encrypted drive is locked when the backup is started, Hasleo Backup Suite will back up the drive in "Sector by sector backup" mode, which means the drive is backed up in encrypted mode, you don't need to enter the password when restoring, but you need to enter the password to unlock the drive after the restore is complete. If the BitLocker encrypted drive is unlocked when the backup is started, Hasleo Backup Suite will be backed up in non-encrypted mode, which means that the encryption will be removed, so you will not need to enter the password to access the drive after the restore.

Since the operating system volume is unlocked when Windows is backed up, the encryption of the drive will be removed during the backup.

I need to turn encryption back on after restoring and it takes a long time to re-encrypt the drive even on Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD. Why?

I am sorry that you had to re-encrypt the drive after the restore, all backup software on the market today uses Microsoft's Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) technology for backups, the data backed up via VSS is unencrypted data, so this issue is common to all backup software on the market.

Is it possible to do a sector by sector backup of Bitlocker volume from Windows?

I'm sorry that the Windows volume is unlocked after booting Windows, so the current version can't do it.
