Full Restore Speed
#21
We've tried using ZStandard as the compression algorithm and further improving the performance of backups, and we've made a lot of progress so far, so if all goes well, V5.0 should be available soon.

Awesome! Btw, using the latest compiler should improve the perfomance more a bit.

I'm sorry we really don't have time to finish it at the moment.

We have added Zstandard (ZSTD) compression algorithm to Hasleo Backup Suite and optimized the disk read/write module, the backup performance has been greatly improved, if you are interested, you can download and test its performance, here is the download link:
https://www.easyuefi.com/backup-software...e_ZSTD.exe

IMPORTANT: For the security of your data, please read the following recommendations carefully.
1. You must create a new backup task to test the performance and you must choose the medium compression level when creating the test backup task. Since this version is an early test version and we are still considering whether to use ZSTD for all compression levels, we recommend that it should be used for performance testing only.
2. For your data safety, we recommend you to export the backup task file of the installed older version before installing this version. For more information on how to export backup task file, please refer to:
https://www.easyuefi.com/backup-software...tasks.html
3. This version can be used to perform backup tasks created by older versions and we have performed some tests, however we do not recommend using it to perform older backup tasks for the safety of your data.

Please let us know your test results and any issues you found during the test.

Thank you so much to everyone.

This is crazy! I created an image of four partitions, and the resulting image was created in 26 seconds. HBS wrote a 25.6 GB file is 26 seconds!! I was able to mount the image, so I know it was created without error. I'm imaging my SSD to another partition on my SSD. Very impressive all!

Thank you for your positive feedback. The performance improvements in this version are only for the disk backup feature, and we have not made any changes to features such as file backup and disk cloning.

The medium compression level of the above test version uses the same ZSTD compression level as the medium compression level of Macrium Reflect. We've been thinking about whether we should use ZSTD at all compression levels. ZSTD offers a variety of compression levels, obviously the higher the compression level, the more CPU resources are consumed, when the CPU limit is exceeded, it will take longer to back up the same data, and the end result will be that we save some storage space but spend more time. However, in the long run, the performance of the CPU is constantly improving, so a higher compression level is better suited for the future, and of course we can change the compression level as needed in the future.
