[solved] Partition size auto-changes
#1
Exclamation
EDIT: Disregard this. Ran another test and had no problem. Not sure why I did before, possibly some setting I toggled on or off and forgot or didn't notice.

A little problem I have noticed. My Windows drive has a few GB of un-allocated (over provisioned) space at the end. At some point during the backup/restore, Hasleo resizes the main Windows partition, fills that space, and after the restore process, only something like ~30 MB remains empty at the end. I think it should recreate the EXACT partitions (size, location, order, everything) unless I manually resize them, but it does not. Dodgy

If you need the exact same partition layout as on the source disk, please check the “Keep partition layout” or “Restore to original location” option when restoring.

Pretty sure I did, unless I turned around and undid that later without knowing? There are still a few options in HBS that are unclear to me what they actually do (the filters section). Either way, I surely did not manually resize it, or tick any "auto-size", "use full disk" box or whatever, so it SHOULD (I would expect) come out the same size.

It was the same physical disk (SSD). I used diskpart to "clean", then restored to the blank disk with “Keep partition layout” and came out with a resized (larger) Windows partition.

Thanks.

This shouldn't happen, make sure you tick the "Keep partition layout" option.

I did another test run and did not have the problem. Let's just chock it up to some unknown user mistake/error I must have made. If I ever figure out what I did to mess it up, I'll come and post what it was.

Thanks again for the info, and sorry for the 'false alarm'. Also, if you want to delete this whole thread to avoid bogus negative thread titles being seen by passers by, feel free.
