Opening/checking image backups once they are created

How to see on images once they are created please? 

So far the only thing I miss from Macrium Reflect.

Hi,

you can use the built-in mount feature to mount any image backup that you created. That way you can open the image as if it was a separate drive and access your files.

You can also use the restore functionality in HBS to restore a full drive, a single partition or - in your case - only some files.
For that, just click on "Restore" in your task:



Then use the "File mode" to browse and select single files:



Usually it's easier to use the mount feature from the tutorial and copy a file directly, though.

A question from someone who does not do file backups.  I looked at the Tutorial that was linked to in the reply to this question.  It says, in part:

Before you begin mounting a backup image, please ensure the following conditions are met:

Install Dokan Driver (For File Backup Images)

To browse or extract files from file backup images, you may need to install the Dokan V2.1.0.1000 driver.
You can download it from the official website or from our website

I have restored individual files from my Disk/Partition backups without installing any drivers than what HBS includes, by Mounting the backup image.

Is that external driver required for File Backups?  If so, why is it, or an HBS version of it, not included in the HBS product?

My thought is that if that quote is still accurate, HBS should consider making restoring files as easy as backing them up.  HBS should be a "turn-key" software package.  No external drivers should be needed to use its basic function of restoring anything that it backs up ...

I am not a backup specialist.  I am a relative newbie myself; hence, my newbie question.

Yes, that driver is still needed, but only for mounting file backups.
It should come preinstalled with HBS already so there's no need to manually install that driver.

Dokan2 was discussed a few times in this forum, last time I remember was in this thread:

Thank you, as always, for your comprehensive and welcome reply.  That is great news.

As you know, I was requested by @admin to check the existing Hasleo Backup Suite Articles and Tutorials for accuracy while researching the HBS FAQs Topic posts.

Based on your reply, the quoted instruction would seem to be no longer accurate, and should be removed.  Your reply is what I had hoped would be the case, but since I don't do File Backups, I could not ascertain its accuracy.

@garioch7, in this sentence we used “may need to” out of consideration for user environment compatibility and stability. Hasleo Backup Suite registers the Dokan driver to the system by adding registry entries, which is technically flawless. However, this is not the standard official installation method after all. Therefore, if users encounter problems when mounting file backup images, we hope they can try manually installing Dokan to see whether that resolves the issue.
