  WinToUSB drive and Cumulative Updates
Posted by: rjolbrich - 07-17-2019, 11:44 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (5)

Hello,
I successfully created a Win 10 1809 WinToUSB drive a few months ago.
I'm having problems installing monthly security cumulative updates through
Windows Update. Is it possible to complete such an update? Other monthly
updates complete successfully in Windows Update.

I've posted on the Microsoft Community without a worthy reply. When faced
with questions on monthly updates, the MVPs almost always recommend a
feature upgrade rather than diagnosing any error code. As you know a
Windows To Go upgrade can't be completed (at least not without your
Upgrader software). I've run through a set of online Microsoft Windows Update
Fix suggestions. None of them succeeded. I always receive a 80070157 error code
from Windows Update. Is anyone an expert error code interpreter?

I also read Microsoft blocked updates for people with USB drives starting in May.
I still receive the same error code now in July. Before I consider purchasing
your Upgrader software, I would like to know definitively whether monthly
security cumulative updates are possible to complete!
Thanks

Microsoft support for Windows To Go
Posted by: rjolbrich - 07-03-2019, 01:40 PM - Forum: Windows To Go Upgrader - Replies (3)

Hello,
Microsoft announced that it is stopping development of Windows To Go.
How will this effect Hasleo's software in the future? I created a bootable
USB drive with WinToUSB and am considering a purchase of Upgrader.
May Microsoft completely remove support from future Win 10 builds
and render your software unusable?

Background: I'm booted onto my PC with my Windows to Go Drive. My PC has a local install of windows on it's HDD which I'm trying to create a VHDx of.
Using WinToUSB Version 4.9 Build May 27 2019

I've used Disk2vhd to create a Vhdx file of

  • Disk 0 - All partitions

and
  • Disk 0 - Just the Windows partition

However when i go to select either of the image files (Vhdx) in WinToUSB it gives the following error:

What gives?

  Win 10 and WtGU 2.8
Posted by: Highlander - 06-22-2019, 02:58 AM - Forum: Windows To Go Upgrader - Replies (7)

Hi

Problem with WtGU 2.8 -

host PC:
a) Windows 10 Pro 64b ver. 1903 on ssd with a lot of RAM, AMD-v supported and enabled
b) WtGU 2.8
c) Oracle VM Virtualbox 5.2.22
d) latest Win 10 iso

error:
WtGU starts creating a VM but stops at 5% with error "Failed to run system API.(0X0002001502990000)", both on "Check"-button and "Upgrade"-button.

I tested it on Win 10 Pro ver. 1709 tool - same result with the same error message - it was before i upgraded Win to ver. 1903

Help with installing on an ext HDD
Posted by: sancha23 - 06-14-2019, 06:01 PM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (5)

Hi all,
I tried to fresh install win10 to an external 1tb HDD but it asks to format the the drive. unfortunately i have filled it. and only about 200 GB is free space now. which is more than enough for a windows installation. i can't move or delete those files as i don't have any other storage option. is there any way to install into that free space without wiping / formatting the whole drive? I will follow any step by step instructions. thanks in advance.
