Windows 10 1607 update will not install on Ext HD
Posted by: littlemart - 12-18-2016, 09:55 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (3)

This seems to be an issue that I have not been able to conquer yet. Microsoft seem to have a restriction on updating Windows to Version 1607 Anniversary update with an external USB drive as system drive. Does anyone have any information on how to do this ?

kind regards

Martin

Another partition on the same USB
Posted by: hallergard - 11-30-2016, 11:36 PM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (6)

Hope I may ask one more question (not a problem). I have learnt that Windows can only recognize one partition on removable media. But WinToUSB can create 2 partitions.  When I shrunk my Windows 10 installation to create space for cloning a Linux Kubuntu partition onto the same flash drive, I was later able to mount Kubuntu from Windows 10, (see end of https://youtu.be/l9MFxbUI_9Q ) Pls explain!

Partition type 11 reported when it is type 7??
Posted by: hallergard - 11-30-2016, 06:53 PM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (3)

I am curious about why some of my older MBR tools report the main partition as type 11 (fat32) when it obviously is type 7 (ntfs) - see picture!  Or is it so that removable media has another set of partition types?  Are you using another formatting tool that a normal Windows format?  Please clarify!

I installed WinToUSB very well on a 32GB flash drive. When I formatted it afterwards for other uses, it's letting me back only 28GB!

Posted by: Tom654 - 10-31-2016, 08:02 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (3)

We created an ISO file and ran the WintoUSB tool to install Windows to a USB drive. After the installation was completed, we put the stick into the computer we wanted to boot and it came up with the Windows 10 installation program. How can I get it to install?
