Creating Win10 Pro on flash drive. VHD or VHDX option?
Posted by: doer - 05-29-2021, 07:43 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (3)

Creating Win10 Pro Live on USB. There are three options to boot it from. But I'm focused on VHD and VHDX. Which one would be better? Flash drive SanDisk Extreme Pro CZ880 128 GB.

EDIT: Already have done with this. Chosen a VHDX. System works like a charm  Smile
And how fast was an installation!
4 minutes WintoUSB installed plus time for setting up Windows it's all together less than half an hour till I have had seen desktop. For me it is unbelievable fast!

But my question still open. Was this a good decision about VHDX? Or a VHD option  might be better?

"License error: Booting from a VHD is not supported on this system"
Posted by: doer - 05-24-2021, 07:05 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (5)

Two weeks ago or so I used WintoUSB to create a Win7 Home Premium Live on Lexar flash drive. In the options of WintoUSB program was available only an option VHD, the other ones were greyed out. So I went for it as I had no other choice. An installation took all the possible time as supposed to be taken to install, so at some moment I thought I had made it. Then window with the error had appeared Huh  Angry   Please, take a look at the photo below.

I have 2 Win7 ISO files. So, that's what happened to one using WintoUSB as I described above. And another one went thru an installation process  with no problem. In case of another file WintoUSB showed only available option as legacy to proceed. As to an ISO in program with only available a VHD option seems to me weird and unknown.

  Windows Live on USB non-persistent?
Posted by: doer - 05-21-2021, 04:28 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (1)

Okay, I have mastered a little Windows Live on USB so far. Now question. Is it possible to create a Windows Live on USB non-persistent? I mean when we start to use a Windows Live stick another time then all changes what we made previously would have been gone. Just like Linux Live distro on USB stick. Possible?

No Windows Updates on Win7 Live USB. I quess it is an old story
Posted by: doer - 05-16-2021, 07:03 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (4)

Hi
I have installed Win7 Live Home Premium on one of my flash drives. This was my third attempt installing Win7 and seems like an important matter has quality of flash drive cause this time Win7 Live system has no lags and hangings. Used SanDisk 64 GB USB 3.0 CZ93 (though system shows it is 3.2Gen1).
I was struggling to do Windows Update on my Win7 USB Live and ended up with no positive results. This was frustrating, you know  Sad I think I had exhausted my possibilities to the end. I was even on Microsoft Catalogue website and downloaded stuff. Downloaded but can't install. That's the error that came up after an attempt to install (picture).
Anyway, what the hell that means? Like I'm using an illegal copy of Windows? Come on! Smile The Win7 on my flash drive has been activated.

Googling and searching to find the solution to make Windows updated I also have met this forum and read a little about Windows Update on Windows USB Live.
What I understand of this there's a program like Windows To Go Upgrader that makes Windows Updates working on Win7 Live USB? Do I understand this correctly? Or have misunderstood? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  Unsupported File system.(0x0570009004FB0000) error
Posted by: SickOfTech - 04-20-2021, 08:38 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (1)

After selecting the .iso file, and then the USB drive, WinTOUSB attempts to format, but I get this error.

Unsupported File system.(0x0570009004FB0000)

Per a post I read here, tried changing the ini file setting NTFSFormat=  to 2 and 1, the default was 0, and no success.

  WinToUSB on ASUS Transformer T101HA
Posted by: Jamesmck - 03-31-2021, 04:37 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (1)

Is it known whether WinToUSB (Windows 10) created on a standard laptop will work on an ASUS Transformer T101HA 2-in-1 (apart from possible issues with booting from USB)?
